Have you ever came across something and instantly thought to yourself, “Wow, that would make the greatest (insert creative item here)!” Well you’re not the only one. We are always stumbling upon great vintage finds and the gears are always spinning in our heads as to what we could make with them. So today we’re presenting you with a few common items found in farmhouses across the country and the barn lights that we were inspired to create from them.
First is the iconic Mason jar. Who would have thought that these little canning jars would eventually become a symbol of a rural, country way of life? After all, they’re referenced in country songs, creatively used with photographs and like you can see in the photo on the left, repurposed as delicate vases. So naturally we decided to create a ceiling light out of this collectible item, the Vintage Ball Perfect Blue Mason Jar Pendant. Found in our Vintage Industrial Lights category, this little pendant looks best when grouped with others as they cast a beautiful pale blue glow over a room. This glow instantly creates a soothing and calming ambiance, one commonly associated with rural living.
Next up is the steel washtub. Washtubs, along with Mason jars, are typical Americana items. They serve various purposes on a farm – watering animals, doing laundry, storing shoes or toys, etc. Resembling this galvanized item, our own Sports Bar 2 Light Bucket Pendant can be hung by cord or chain and radiates a rustic feel. As this pendant light’s name implies, its usage shouldn’t be limited to use in sports bars; mount it over a farmhouse dining table for a great conversation piece!
