Similar to industrial farmhouse style, is contemporary farmhouse. These styles have become all the rage throughout the design world and it’s easy to see bits and pieces of each brought into even the most modern of spaces. The Napa Valley home today features characteristics from Craftsman to Mid Century, but when it’s all said and done, an elegant yet understated look is brought to the table, literally.
When the homeowners went to interior designer, Jean Larette, for their 1970′s home with low ceilings and retro knotty pine throughout, the home was begging to be updated. Larette brought her signature simple styles to the home, combining subtle details with modern and vintage pieces to set the home off. It’s no wonder it was featured in House Beautiful magazine!
Updated farmhouse folding doors contribute to the open layout that is a necessity in modern country homes; imagine waking up in the morning to the irresistible scents of the nearby vineyards wafting throughout. From the living room, you’re taken into a casual dining room. Mid Century style chocolate brown chairs and a contemporary table contrast against the crisp white color scheme and bring in a bit of warmth. The paneled glass doors let in plenty of natural light, but for a romantic, upscale look, a modern chandelier overhead illuminates the dining area.
Suspended from the paneled ceiling (a classic farmhouse touch), is a multi light chandelier almost identical to the Ogden Chandelier. Simple, yet contemporary ceiling lighting was necessary for the overall scheme of things. Any sort of barn pendant could have worked in the dining room, but the modern chandelier radiates the simple elegance that comes with contemporary farmhouse design. The Ogden is available as a six light chandelier for smaller rooms, or as a nine light fixture if you have an open and free flowing layout. The creamy white shades on each socket ensure that the light is diffused into a flattering, soft glow and will aid in creating an intimate dining atmosphere.
